Mike is responsible for Client Relationship Management for clients of the firm. Mike’s responsibilities include business development, new initiatives and strategy. Earlier in his career Mr. Welsome was appointed to the New York City Police Department in November 1979. After serving 20 years and receiving 4 promotions to Deputy Inspector, Mike was assigned as the Commanding Officer of the Pension Section, which was at that time a sub unit of the NYPD. In November of 2001, Mike was promoted to Inspector and placed on leave from the NYPD to serve as the first Executive Director of the NYC Police Pension Fund, after spearheading state legislation which separated the Pension Section from the NYPD and established PPF as a separate City agency. At the time he retired, the PPF had over 78,000 active and retired members and assets of approximately 22 billion dollars.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from St. Francis College. He is a graduate of the Police Management Institute at Columbia University, and the Pension Management and Investments Program at the Wharton School of Business. Mr. Welsome is a member of National Law Enforcement Associates.
